OVERHEARD BLOCK

Left Overhead Block
1. Assume Heiko Dachi. (Feet approximately 16 to 18 inches apart, parallel to each other pointed forward). Weight distributed evenly on both legs, knees slightly bent. Hands to your front, 5 inches from your legs and 3 inches apart.
2. Withdraw left arm into the cocked position
3. The following moves are done simultaneously:
(Explain the position and moves prior to executing).
a) Execute a rising punch covering your face area left wrist is 3 inches directly
in front of your forehead, with the back of your knuckles facing towards you.
b) Withdraw your right arm into the cocked position to your right side.
4. Execute slowly. (Reverse procedure for right overhead block)
NOTE: Cocked position—Your right fist is against the right side of your body pulled back with the forearm parallel to the floor, the back of your knuckles facing down.
Common Corrections:
a) Not maintaining the 45 degrees angle through-out the execution of the block.
b) Not using positive block.
c) Moving head towards the block
d) Blocking too close to the forehead.
